    Gene Harrawood

    Interactive/Multimedia Designer

    Team: Systems

I am a creative designer who works in a broad range of digital graphic arts media, including print, Web, illustration, and multimedia. I have over 22 years of experience as a graphic designer, including over 9 years working with Web-based educational content. I have a degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, which is where I have made my home since 1981.

Besides graphic design, I also work in artistic medias: oil and watercolor, print making, ceramics, illustration and drawing.

In my spare time I enjoy gardening, home improvement projects, reading, the arts, cycling, weightlifting, traveling, and just spending time at home...with family, friends and being with all that surrounds me.

I joined the Systems Design & Development team in January 2007.

  • Anne Palmer

    Anne Palmer

    Director

My first 19 years at IU were spent in Admissions. When I first started there in 1980 I was responsible for writing and editing recruitment publications. My recruiting travel territories included central Indiana, Pittsburgh, Kansas, and New England. Responsibilities gradually shifted and by the late 1980s I coordinated the activities in International Admissions. I moved into the OES Systems area in 1999 with the startup of the SIS project. I love being in SD&D because we have the opportunity to work with colleagues across OEM as well as in other university departments at Bloomington and systemwide.

  • Will Pierce

    Will Pierce

    Systems Developer/Programmer

    Team: Systems

My employment with IU began at UITS, as a "consultant" in the campus computer labs. After doing this for a year, I began splitting my time between UITS and the Kelley School of Business. I did a lot of work on the websites for UCSO (Undergraduate Career Services) and GCS (Graduate Career Services). I also edited some instructional videos for GCS, which was interesting. I started working for OEM in May of 2007, in a temporary hourly position. I was hired as full-time staff in August 2007.

Education: BS in Informatics with a concentration in Music; Indiana University

As a freshman at IU I played saxophone in the Marching Hundred, with a borrowed alto from my high school. A year later I returned the instrument and went on to obtain a B.A. in English and Anthropology. During my time here I’ve published poetry in CANVAS, worked at the Fine Arts Library and the Center for Survey Research, and volunteered at the Mathers Museum in Conservation.

    Jennifer Witkemper

Associate Director and Senior Systems Developer

    Team: Systems

My career with IU started in 1999 at UITS as a Computer Consultant and as a Consultant Support Specialist. I joined the IU Enrollment Management team in 2000 as a Technical Support Provider in the Office of Admissions. At that same time I was a Teaching Assistant for the class X201 - Technology in Business in the Kelley School of Business. After I graduated as a member of the first graduating class from the School of Informatics, I decided to continue my studies and pursued my master's degree in Computer Science here at IU. During my graduate career I received a Graduate Assistantship with The President's Challenge as their webmaster. Upon graduating with my master's degree I then strayed away from IU and worked for the private sector for a couple of years as a prgrammer at the marketing agency Hirons and Company. I then rejoined IU and the Office of Enrollment Management in 2006. Now I work in the Systems Design and Development group managing different projects, developers, designers, and developing local applications to meet evolving business needs.
